Tyringa-1 was plugged an abandoned. This exploration well (in PEL 107) was  on the Spencer – Muteroo Horst in the southern Cooper Basin on the southern edge of the Patchawarra Trough, about 5 km south and 3 km northeast of the Spencer West and Pintari North Oilfields respectively, and 43 km west of Moomba.

The well was designed to test a small but well defined 4-way dip structural closure mapped at the Namur and Hutton horizons on the greater Spencer - Muteroo Basement high. The Early Cretaceous Namur Sandstone / McKinlay Member primary target for oil at Tyringa-1 with the Jurassic Birkhead Formation and Hutton Sandstone being strong secondary targets for oil. The Murta and Patchawarra Formations were weak secondary targets for oil and/or gas.

Nearest offset wells in the area include Spencer West-1 – 4.8 km to the north and Pintari North-1 – 3.3 km to the southwest.

Tyringa-1 spudded on the 23rd September 2005 (04:00 hrs). Wireline were run and interpreted. DST-1 (1403.5 – 1411.0m) was conducted as an inflate straddle test, to assess oil shows in the McKinlay Member. This test resulted in no flow to surface.

No significant hydrocarbons were encountered in any other formations and the well was plugged and abandoned. The rig was released on 4th October 2005 at 24:00 hours.
