With no indications of hydrocarbons, no DST's were run and this well was plugged and abandoned.
Appadare-1 spudded at 1430 hrs (CST) on 12 January 2007. Appadare-1 was an oil exploration well that tested the Poolowanna and Patchawarra oil potential of a combination structural-stratigraphic trap located in the southwestern Patchawarra Trough of PEL 107.
The Appadare prospect was selected by Rawson Resources Limited (Rawson) following positive results from a soil-gas geochemical survey conducted by it. The primary Patchawarra Formation reservoir objectives are productive for oil in the nearby Sturt Oil Field as well as in the Kiana Oil Field. The Poolowanna Formation contains secondary reservoir targets and is a good producer in three adjacent oil fields. Seismic mapping indicated that the Appadare structure could have had approximately 50 m of structural relief and enclosed an area of 2.2 km2. Pre-drill mean recoverable reserves of 1.2 million barrels of oil and a “fill to spill” potential of 2.1 million barrels of recoverable were estimated, however, drilling failed to find any indications of hydrocarbons.
