Paprika-1 is cased and suspended as a future Patchawarra gas and condensate producer.
The Paprika -1 well tested an anticlinal structure approximately 9km south-west of the Welcome Lake East field, 7.5km north-west of the Rossco-1 new field gas discovery, 10km south of the Nulla field, 7.4km north of Smegsy field and 11km north west of Jack Lake field.
The Paprika prospect had a four way dip closure of 11m, covering an area of approximately 1.5 km2. The nearby fields of Welcome Lake East, Nulla, Jack Lake, Smegsy, as well as Paranta-1 and Nutmeg-1 wells, all flowed gas from the Patchawarra Formation, the primary target at this location.
Gas shows and fluorescence were observed from numerous sands within the Patchawarra Formation. Three attempts were made to test (inflate straddle DST) the 27-9 sand. All attempts were unsuccessful due to tool failures, although the initial pressure build-up in DST #1A indicated that it is a better zone than the sand successfully tested in Cadenza -1. The recovery from DST #1A emitted a strong hydrocarbon odour.
Pay was interpreted in multiple zones within the Patchawarra Formation.
Ensign Rig#30 was released on 29th of June, 2006.
Paprika -1 continues to be evaluated for further testing and commercialisation.
