Cadenza-1 has been cased and suspended as a Patchawarra Formation gas and condensate well, and will be completed as a producer at a later date.
The exploration well was drilled in the PEL 106, South Australia, approximately 6.2km east of the Welcome Lake gas field, 3.2km north of Paranta-1 and 4.7km north-east of Nutmeg-1.
The Cadenza prospect was defined on the Paranta 3D survey acquired as part of an Energy Investments Ltd farmin. This data allowed the unique targeting of a combination stratigraphic and structural trap. The primary objective was the Patchawarra Formation, considered prospective for gas and condensate. The Tirrawarra Sandstone was regarded as a secondary target as it was expected to be gas charged but tight.
Drill-stem tests were programmed to be conducted post logging. Two tests were attempted. DST #1, flowed 1.54mmcfd with approximately 40bcpd. DST #2, suffered a packer seat failure and thus was a misrun.
Log interpretation indicated the presence of multiple gas pay zones in the Patchawarra Formation.
Cadenza-1 continues to be evaluated for further testing and commercialisation.
