Project Summary

ATP 549 (Cypress Block) lies adjacent to the Bunya and Thylungra gas fields, located immediately to the northeast of the permit as well as to the Cocos and Mt Howitt gas fields, located to the west and southwest.

A gas processing plant is located immediately to the southwest of the Block and pipelines traverse the Block connecting the processing centre to the Bunya and Thylungra gas fields (see Gallery Picture 1).

The Block is dominated by a number of northwest trending fault zones associated with which are three prospects, Norfolk, Hoop and Macaw.

Potential reserves within the Permian Toolachee Formation for gas have been the traditional targets in this part of the Basin, with nearby gas fields attesting to the validity of this play type.

Great Artesian currently holds a 40% interest and is reviewing the data

ATP 549 (West Block) and the adjacent ATP 539 contains the regional Curalle Anticline – a large structural high and regional focal point for migrating hydrocarbons from both the Arrabury Trough, to the south and southwest, and the Windorah Trough to the east.

In ATP 549 (West Block) gas has been encountered in the Mackillop structure and a thick (50m) column of oil staining was penetrated in the Hutton Sandstone at Wyerie-1.

As shown on Gallery Picture 1 several prospects have been identified on the basis of reinterpretation of pre-existing seismic data; much of it acquired by Delhi-Santos during the 1970’s and 1980’s when they operated this region as part of the then ATP 259P. These prospects include Yamma, Mirra and Parooka.
